Ober Park

Ober Park - Vashon Island Washington - Playground

Ober Park is a great place to bring kids if you are visiting the island.

First, it has the largest playground on the island. Second, it is very close to the Vashon Island library. Third, it is located uptown (downtown Vashon).

Lastly, it has a great outdoor area focused on public exercise equipment. I have not seen this sort of equipment before, so it makes this park super unique to me.

Ober Activity Center is located in the center of the site between a Metro park-and-ride lot and the Library. The building contains a springboard-mounted floor exercise space for gymnastics, dance classes, theater, movies, and concerts; craft/meeting room; and the administrative offices of the Vashon Parks District. The modest single-story wood and concrete block building is in relatively good shape and could be expanded to provide additional indoor activity space.

The partially wooded site has picnic tables, an award-winning children’s playground, a Ron Hook mural, and a Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The grassy, rolling lawns are used for summer gatherings, community festivals, and concerts.
