Vashon Island Bike in the Tree
The bike in the tree. People have come to the island from all over the world to see it and there have been many tales told about how the bike got there. Some said that a young man put it in the tree before he went off to war and never returned. Some said that the seedling came up under the bike and consumed it. Regardless, it’s a sight to witness.
The truth is that a boy who’s family still lives on Vashon Island put his bike in the tree when he was very little. Of course, he forgot about it. Years later he came back to that wooded area and couldn’t believe what he saw… his bike had been consumed by that tree, which was much, MUCH larger that when he was a little boy.
Today, the bike remains inside that tree and you can see how the tree grew right around that bike. It’s an incredible thing to witness and it shows the power of nature if you just allow it to follow its path.
